Facilitating Change

Environmental education programs for Primary and Secondary schools in the Canary Islands. Theoretical-practical sessions, field activities and citizen science.

Transforming Through Education

Facilitating Change is our environmental education program for Primary and Secondary schools in the Canary Islands. We are not a one-off talk: we accompany schools in a process of transformation towards sustainability.

Methodology

  • Theoretical-practical sessions adapted to the official curriculum
  • Field activities in the nearest marine environment
  • Citizen science projects where students generate real data
  • Monitoring and evaluation of habit changes

Topics We Work On

  • Marine biodiversity in the Canary Islands
  • Plastic and microplastic pollution
  • Climate change and ocean acidification
  • Circular economy and responsible consumption
  • Citizen participation and good governance

Nuestro Plan de Acción

01

Development and Design of the Latitud Azul Action Strategy aligned with the SDGs

Design an association action strategy, aligned with the SDGs and based on promoting citizen participation that will allow our organization to have a clear and successful direction when developing actions, seeking funding, and creating the necessary alliances to maximize the reach of objectives.

02

Training

Training of Latitud Azul Association members in participation methodologies will be carried out through a process of acquiring tools and their subsequent implementation. Training activities will take place during community days that will also include breakfast and lunch prepared by an ecological and sustainable catering company.

03

Building Collaborative Networks

Strengthen collaborative network work with other associations or groups on the island of Gran Canaria.

04

Creating a Culture of Care

This activity aims to put into practice the Latitud Azul Participation Strategy, all the tools acquired in the different training sessions, as well as the synergies established through the collaborative network.
